DEC Foresters

Another great service for forest owners locally are the services of the New York State DEC foresters.  They will visit with landowners, give them advice (based on their goals and reality) and provide a Stewardship (forest management) plan all for free. The Stewardship plan they provide, or a plan they approve, is required by the NRCS  for landowners applying for Federal cost sharing dollars under the 2008 Farm Bill.  For more information, contact Jim Bagley, Sr. Forester at the NYDEC Bath Office, 607-776-2165 -x26 or visit their website at: www.dec.ny.gov
