Frequently Asked Questions

Q – How do I take advantage of the Early Bird Registration discount?

A – Mail your completed camp application along with deposit to 4-H Camp Wyomoco, 401 North Main Street, Warsaw, NY 14569. Applications must be postmarked on or before April 15, 2012.

Q – Do I need to pay the camp fees in full in order to take advantage of the Early Bird registration?

A – No. You only need to pay the $100 non-refundable deposit and any other applicable fees for added items at camp. (For example: Horsemanship Activity, Specialty Camp, Tee Shirt) Applications must be postmarked on or before April 15, 2012.

Q - Do I still have to pay the $100 deposit with the application if the camper has a campership from the 4-H cookie sale?

A - If the camper has earned a $100 or higher 4-H Cookie Campership then the $100 non-refundable deposit requirement has been met. If the Campership is less than $100 then a $100 deposit is required at the time of registration.

Q - Does the $100 non-refundable deposit get applied to the camp fee due?

A - Yes. The $100 non-refundable deposit is applied to the camp fee.

Q – When is the balance due for my camper's week at camp?

A – The balance is due three weeks before the start of the desired camp session. Due dates are printed on the Statement of Account that you received. If you have misplaced your statement please contact the camp office for this information.

Q – Does the camper need to have horse experience in order to go to
Horse Camp
?

A – Yes.  If the camper has little or no horse experience, we suggest the Horsemanship class, which is offered Weeks 2 to 6. Camper must be able to care for their horse, regardless if it is a rental horse or one they own. Camper must be able to feed, care for feet and saddle their horse on their own.

Q – If the camper is participating in the "Rent A Horse For A Week" program at Horse Camp, what equipment does the camper need to bring?

A – The Camp Handbook lists the items required for camper and horse. The camper can disregard everything listed under "Required For Horse". These items will be supplied for him/her.

Please remember to pack appropriate footwear for the camper though, which is listed under "Required For Camper" in the handbook.

Q - Is the "Rent A Horse" fee refundable if we either cancel our week or decide to bring our own horse?

A - The "Rent A Horse" fee is not refundable. The leasing arrangement is made in advance of camp.

Q - Are there any fees for participating in an activity class ?

A - Yes, but only for the Horsemanship activity that is offered during weeks 2 through 6. This fee is due when submitting your registration form. All other activity classes are at no additional charge.

Q - If the camper has chosen a Specialty Camp, do I pay this extra fee with the application?

A - Yes, specialty camp fees are due when submitting the application.

Q - Can a camper participate in more than one Specialty Camp during a week at camp?

A - No. Two specialty camps are usually scheduled to run at the same time of day, therefore making it impossible to attend both.

Q – What is the Horsemanship class during Weeks 2 to 6?

A - Horsemanship Class is for anyone interested in learning more about caring for and riding a horse properly. Riding instructors are experienced to teach campers of all levels. Children are matched with horses appropriate to their riding abilities. Campers receive two class periods of riding and instruction each day.

Q - Do you still have to pay $95 for Horsemanship Class for week #6 since it is a shorter week?
(Pickup on Friday is at 9:00 a.m. instead of 7:00 p.m. in Week 6)

A - Yes, because your camper will still get the same amount of class time.

Q - If a camper takes the Horsemanship Class, can he/she still choose a Specialty Camp?

A - Yes, however, we encourage everyone to select 7 activity choices in case the camper doesn't get their first choice.

Q - How does choosing a Cabin-Mate work?

A - Every camper is given the option of requesting to be in the same cabin as a fellow camper. We strongly discourage any cabin-mate requests where there is more than a two year age span between the campers. We cannot guarantee that we would be able to accomodate your request. Please note that BOTH campers must request each other in order to honor your request.

Q - Can we change the session that we have already signed up for?

A - Yes, as long as the session that you wish to change to is not already full.
