Wyoming Initiative for School Health
Article by Melissa Fugle, WISH Coordinator
The WISH (Wyoming Initiative for School Health) is well on its way to reaching many Wyoming County school-aged children to teach them the importance of eating healthy and exercising. One of the activities has been Health Fairs held in two of the school districts, and there are at least two more scheduled for the current school year. Perry Elementary and Middle School and Sheldon Elementary have both hosted Health Fairs; Perry's was held on March 21 and 22, and Sheldon's was on April 2. Presenters were invited to come share their careers with students in order to promote healthy lifestyles. Presenters included volunteers from the Sheriff's Department, American Red Cross, Reality Check, Wyoming County Community Hospital, Mercy Flight, YMCA, Business Education Council and WISH with each offering something different for the students. Students enjoyed themselves and learned a great deal of information that they can take with them throughout their lives.
