Staff Additions and Changes in Wyoming County!

 

Educator Vacancies Filled in the Agriculture Department

The Agriculture Program in Wyoming County has been short staffed for the better part of the year. To address these vacancy issues, the agriculture committee has decided to reorganize two positions.

Lutie Batt (right) is the new Extension Educator (effective October 15th) in the areas of Tree and Small Fruit, Maple, Natural Resources and Commercial and Consumer Agriculture, including Master Gardener programming. Lutie has a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting and Marketing, is a Master Gardener and is the owner of a local plant-related business and brings with her valuable business expertise.

Rebecca Ireland-Perry’s (left) dairy/livestock program assistant duties have been expanded to include other Extension Educator responsibilities in the areas of potato production and agriculture technician. Becky has a Master’s Degree in Animal Science, has crop production related experience and has the interest and ability to work with the potato industry including the potato sucrose testing and interpretation.

New Nutrition Coordinator for Wyoming and Livingston County

Glenda McPherson began work as the new Nutrition Coordinator for Wyoming and Livingston County on September 26, 2005. She comes to Cornell Cooperative Extension from Rochester, New York. She is originally from Wichita, Kansas. She has taught at the college level and worked in a clinical setting. Now she will be working with the nutrition program, FSNEP (Food Stamps Nutrition Education Program), in both counties, which is a Federal program.
