June is the month most local farmers markets come alive
with fresh produce. The Farmers Market Nutrition Program
is a federally funded program that provides coupon books to WIC
families to use at their local farmers market or farm stand.
The coupons can be used to buy locally grown fresh fruits and
vegetables. Most farmers at the markets accept these coupons.
Farmers will hang a sign at their stand saying they accept the
Farmers Market Nutrition Program coupons. This year WIC
families will receive $24 in coupons to use at the market or farm
stands. The coupons need to be used by November.

Buying locally grown fresh fruits and vegetables helps to support
your local farmers and local economy and lets you take advantage
of the freshest produce around!
