Wyoming County 4-H Clothing Revue Results

Fashion shows are always equal measures of pageantry, entertainment, and of course, style!! Wyoming County 4-H held its annual clothing revue on Friday evening, May 7th at the Warsaw Central High School. This year's theme was "Fashion in Living Color".

Wyoming County 4-H'ers selected to participate in the 2010 NY State Fair Clothing Revue in Syracuse in August. (l to r): Lydia Zielinski, Arcade; Alicia Clark, Warsaw; Adele Schenk, Delevan; Jennifer Shriver, East Aurora; Lauren Ciurzynski, Attica; Kelly Kraft, Varysburg; Heather Yuhnke, Wyoming and Meredith Bell, Pavilion.

On April 21st and April 24th, seventy-eight 4-H members had their sewing projects evaluated on all aspects of clothing construction including choice of fabric, sewing and finishing details, as well as fit in preparation for the revue. Sixty-eight 4-H members participated in the evening's revue on May 7th, which featured a fashion show with garments modeled by those members who completed a clothing project. 4-H'ers modeled an array of garments including aprons, skirts, blouses, pajamas, and sweatshirts. Participants also showed off handmade bath robes, coats, skirts, a variety of dresses, and period clothing on stage before an audience in which included this year's celebrity judges - former Wyoming County 4-H'ers and volunteers Becky A. George of Strykersville and Sandy Pirdy of Arcade.

The 4-H'ers had a chance to model on stage while being evaluated on fit, poise, posture and style of the item they had sewn.

The following 4-H'ers were chosen to represent Wyoming County at the New York State Fair Clothing Revue in Syracuse in August: Meredith Bell, Pavilion; Lauren Ciurzynski, Attica ; Alicia Clark, Warsaw; Adele Schenk, Delevan; Jennifer Shriver, East Aurora; Heather Yuhnke, Wyoming; along with alternates: Kelly Kraft, Varysburg and Lydia Zielinski, Arcade.

In addition, Mrs. Pirdy announced Eliza Cox of Perry as the recipient of a new 'Baby Lock BL9' sewing machine donated by Creekside Fabrics, Quilts, & Yarn. Eliza's application was selected by Mrs. Pirdy, family members, and staff at Creekside Fabrics, Quilts, & Yarn, from twenty-five applications submitted by Wyoming County 4-H'ers. Mrs. Pirdy also recognized and presented Eliza's grandmother and sewing leader, Hazel Parker with a special gift the inspiration and dedication to so many young adults and the entire 4-H program.
