COMMISSIONER TO ADDRESS MAPLE PRODUCERS on the Future of Maple in New York State

On Saturday January 16, 2010, New York State Agriculture Commissioner Patrick Hooker will be the keynote speaker for the WNY Maple School held at Letchworth Central High School, Gainesville, NY. This annual event is a regional educational conference for maple enthusiasts from beginners to the more experienced maple producers.
Attendees will have a choice of educational presentations, a trade exhibit, a hot sandwich lunch, and a great chance to casually exchange ideas with other maple producers. Experienced maple producers and hobbyists are all invited to attend. Guest speakers include experts from the maple industry, DEC, the Cornell Maple Program, Cornell Cooperative Extension, Wyoming County Tourist Promotion Agency, and the SBDC Outreach Center.
Topics planned for the workshops this year include: equipment operation and maintenance, new equipment, marketing, wildlife management, and more. Attendees will also learn about the Wyoming County Maple Producers' Association and the Western New York Maple Producers' Association.
Admission for the day's program has been kept at $10.00. The price includes attending workshops, equipment exhibit, and sandwich lunch.
