Did you know...

In Warren County, the USDA plant hardiness zones are primarily 4a (-30 degrees to -25 degreethermometers F) for the northern end of the County, and 4b (-25 degrees to - 20 degrees F) for the southern end of the County. The last average Spring frost for the County falls usually between May 15- 20. The first average Fall Frost for the County is generally from September 10 - 20.


Happy plants need healthy soil. Regular testing of the soil will provideshovel and soil valuable information on soil health, and what amendments need to be done … if anything. Through our office, a pH test of the soil can be provided free of charge. For a complete analysis the soil can be sent to the soil lab at Cornell University for a small fee.

Master Gardener Volunteers
Is a nationwide educational program, and in New York State is a corps of volunteers who are trained by Cornell Cooperative Extension in the science and art of gardening. The program is a way of neighbors teaching neighbors about: landscapes; vegetables; fruits; herbs; beneficial and harmful insects; soils; and integrated pest management (IPM) to name a few. Cornell Cooperative Extension's mission is to enable people to improve their lives and communities through partnerships that put experience and research knowledge to work.

Master Gardener volunteers are a key link in helping Cornell Cooperative Extension of Warren County accomplish that mission.
