Arrowood Drive/Convenient Care Complex
Submitted by: Anna Moratz
Category/Audience: Seniors
Best for: Walking-hiking

Describe location/distance/terrain:
Arrowood Drive off Warren Road leads into Brentwood Drive. This is a loop around the medical complex. Brentwood Drive borders the small forest that leads to Sapsucker Woods. It involves a slow 2% incline in one direction, is well paved, with easy parking, and the road and sidewalks are always cleared in the winter. We walk there daily for an hour, completing several loops, but one can extend or reduce the time walked as desired.

Why do you think this walk or trail is special and why would others also enjoy it?
Being seniors (age 85 and 71), we realize that walking is essential for our health, in our case to slow the progression of osteoarthritis and peripheral artery disease, which calls for a walk which is less strenuous than those we did when younger. Around 8 am, we are the only people walking in the vicinity of Arrowood and Brentwood Dr., and it is always a pleasant experience. This walk also offers the opportunity to use the rest rooms at the Convenient Care building, which also has a small, but very friendly and comfortable Deli in which to relax. It is handy that one also circulates around the doctors' offices! One of them, Dr. Anderson, even told us he sees us often from his office window. We have gotten compliments from some of the doctors as they walk into their offices. We like the uncrowded, quiet atmosphere and the proximity of the woods, where we can watch birds, deer, geese and rabbits. In the summer we enjoy the wildflowers and the well maintained landscaping around the offices. We find this to be a perfect walk for senior citizens!
