Hammond Hill State Forest
Submitted by: Sarah Short
Category/Audience: Beginning hikers, Experienced hikers, Seniors, Children/Families
Best for: Walking/hiking

Describe location/distance/terrain:
The location is Hammond Hill. It is left off Harford Road in Slaterville Springs. The terrain is a seasonal road, so it is a pretty smooth walk/hike. It has a very gradual slope.

Why do you think this walk or trail is special and why would others also enjoy it?
This trail is special to me, not only because of past hikes I remember, but when you get to the top of 1 small hill there is a gorgeous view of the hills and the ground cover and pipe-line runs through it. At this point, you are actually standing on the pipeline. This is special to me because my late uncle used to work for the pipeline so it reminds me of him. I think others would enjoy this hike because it is fairly easy and after a quiet walk surrounded by woods, it opens up to a beautiful view. I have pics of the top (pipeline) in all 4 seasons.
