Light in Winter Festival

Lite-In-Winter
Favorite Trails Contest

Outdoor Activity can help us all stay “Lite” and fit this winter.
To identify great local walks and trails that are accessible in the colder months, Tompkins County Cooperative Extension sponsored a Favorite Trails Contest as part of the 2007 Light in Winter Festival free family events. A series of articles featuring local trails or walks appeared in the Ithaca Journal, in conjunction with the contest.

Contestants were asked to submit a favorite walk or hike that could be done on foot, cross-country skis, or snowshoes. Categories were:

  • Most Challenging
  • Best for Beginners
  • Best for Children/Families
  • Best for Seniors
  • Most Scenic/historic
  • Best “All Around” Trail

Submissions were due on January 15, 2007 and awards were made on January 28, 2007 at a small ceremony at Cass Park in Ithaca.
