FARM CITY DAY

2003 Host: Jerry Dell Farm

Visit an organic dairy farm! Vaughn and Sue Sherman raised their four sons on this picturesque farm located on the border of Tompkins and Cortland Counties, just north of the Village of Dryden. Today, three of those sons - Ryan, Jeremy and Derek, and a nephew - Troy, are actively involved with the farm. Together the Sherman's farm 800 owned and 200 rented acres in support of their 300 cow certified organic dairy farm.

Jerry Dell farm is named to honor Vaughn's parents, Jerry and Ardella, who began farming just down the road from the current farm in 1946. In 2000 the farm completed the transition to organic production.

The Sherman family invites you to enjoy the scenic vistas and relaxing atmosphere of their hillside farm overlooking the Dryden valley. Jerry Dell Farm's herd can be seen grazing the gently sloping pastures as you approach the farmstead.
