3-hour sessions inform participants about:
- What eating disorders
are and what they are not

role model and knowing when and how to help

aspects of eating disorders
- Looking at disordered
eating from the perspective of the person struggling with the eating
disorder

disorder treatment and recovery
- Recognizing cultural
and media messages about body image
- Important facts
about nutrition, optimal vs. dysfunctional eating, and health restoration
What
is the cost?
There is a small fee (see registration
form). However, the program is open to all regardless of ability to
pay.
When
and where does the program meet?
Location may vary. Please see insert.
Why
participate?
Successful treatment programs for people with eating disorders increasingly
include a parent and family education program.
"Group family
education provides a support network for families in a non-blaming environment
for eating disorder education. A parent's job is to provide an environment
where the child gets better and it is the child's job to get better."
-Sheryl Otterson, MS, LICSW,
Outpatient Eating Disorder Clinic,
Gundersen Hospital, La Crosse, WI
