Education
Programs
for all families & community members:
- Parenting
Skills Workshop Series - a program for parents or
guardians interested in improving the way they
talk with their children. The skills of: Encouragement,
Can Do, Choices, Self-Control and Respecting
Feelings are explained, discussed and practiced. Six workshops
are held yearly, with each session running for 8 weeks, 2 hours each.
Workshops are free and are held in locations throughout Tompkins County.
Free childcare is often provided.

Babies & Toddlers -
Children under two are welcome to join their caregiver(s)
for these sessions, which cover Bonding, Child Development,
Safety, Play, Toilet Training, Positive
Communication, Baby Sign Language and Reducing Stress
in Parents.
- Culturally
Sensitive Parenting - Teaches tools and strategies
on how to parent children from diverse cultures to become healthy, proud
and capable individuals.
- Parent
Education Network - Discussions led by parent educators
who provide parenting information and encourage parents to share experiences
and ideas for nurturing children. Topics vary throughout the year.

social/emotional needs

for those with disordered eating.

Programs
available for families referred to CCE-Tompkins:
- Parenting
Skills Facilitated Visits - available to parents
who are working with the Children's Services Unit of the Department
of Social Services. A facilitator meets with the parent(s) and child(ren),
coaching the parent to use the communication skills of the Parenting
Skills Workshop series.
