Working Title: RideWise Transportation Education Program Manager

Classification Title: Extension Community Educator

Supervisor’s Classification: Team Coordinator

General Responsibilities:
As a member of the Environmental Education Program Team, the Program Manager will be responsible for the development, implementation, management, documentation, and evaluation of the RideWise Transportation Education Program. The goal of this project is to develop a consumer education effort to assist Tompkins County residents in exploring their transportation options, the economics and environmental impacts of their choices, and to develop individual personal transportation plans. Input will be sought from consumers and transportation providers that will ultimately result in a research-based, locally tailored curriculum that guides individuals through a process for developing an individual transportation plan to realize their mobility goals. Staff from select local human service agencies will be trained in the implementation of the curriculum for delivery to their specific target audiences.

Duties & Responsibilities:

Development & Implementation of RideWise (90%):

• Work with consumers and transportation providers to determine current options and strategies, challenges, and gaps in current transportation options.
• Conduct focus groups, interviews, and informational sessions with persons from the target populations and transportation providers.
• Develop curriculum and supporting educational materials for the Transportation Options Workshop. Pilot the Workshop.
• Develop a Train-the-Educator Inservice for staff of local human service providers and others interested in helping to delivery this information in our communities.
• Recruit, screen, and select human service agency staff to present the Workshop for the persons with whom they work.
• Work with marketing staff to develop and implement a marketing plan including branding of the RideWise Project.
• Work with website developer to develop a web component for this project including interactive worksheets and tools.
• Conduct evaluations and assessments to document impact of this effort.
• Keep records and generate reports documenting this project.

CCETC Support and Professional Improvement (10%):

• Serve as an ambassador for CCETC programming in the community.
• Take advantage of professional improvement opportunities related to development of skills and subject matter knowledge needed for this position as agreed upon with supervisor.
• Participate in CCETC staff meetings and serve on staff committees as agreed upon with supervisor.

Reporting Relationships:
Program Manager receives direct administrative and functional supervision from and will report directly to the Environment Program Team Coordinator. She/he is expected to implement the agreed upon program effort as a member of the CCETC Team. Duties will be performed within general policies and guidelines of Cornell Cooperative Extension of Tompkins County.

Qualifications:

Education and Experience Required

• Bachelor’s degree and three years relevant experience in adult or nonformal education or related field is required.
• Demonstrated ability to implement a strength-based approach is required.
• Previous experience working with limited resource audiences is required.
• Previous experience with successful program implementation and successfully working as a member of a Team is required.
• Previous experience in an educational role is highly desirable.
  

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required

• Strong interest in and enthusiasm for the areas of transportation alternatives, creative marketing and adult education and sharing that information with others.
• Demonstrated ability to plan, implement, teach, and evaluate adult educational efforts for diverse populations in a variety of settings.
• Demonstrated strong interpersonal and people skills including strength-based approach.
• Desire and ability to be a contributing team member.
• Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
• Ability to work independently within organizational guidelines and work expectations.
• Ability to work with, develop, and support volunteers.
• Ability to identify and develop teaching materials and resources to support program activities.
• Strong organizational skills, record keeping abilities, and effective reporting.
• Skills in using electronic technology for communication, development of educational materials, and reporting.
  

Special Requirements

• Valid drivers license and safe driving record for the past three years or ability to meet travel demands of the position (reimbursement of mileage with use of personal vehicle).
• Willingness to work flexible hours including some nights and weekends.
• Ability to lift or provide instruction for lifting program materials.
