Working Title: Financial Management Education Program Manager

Classification Title: Extension Community Educator

General Responsibilities:
As a member of the Consumer & Financial Management Education Team, the Program Manager will be responsible for the implementation, management, documentation, and evaluation of several Financial Management Education Program efforts with a focus on personal money management knowledge and skills reaching a diverse adult population. These efforts include One-on-One Financial Management Education Program and Workshops supporting EmPower New York, Money Work$ curriculum, as well as other workshops, presentations, and educational delivery strategies developed as programming efforts continue to grow to meet new needs and opportunities. The purpose of these programming efforts is to provide opportunities for individuals and households to increase their personal money management skills and to foster sustainable behavior changes that will increase participant’s financial security. The Program Manager also manages a team of volunteers who assist in the implementation of the One-on-One Program.

Duties & Responsibilities:

Implementation of One-on-One Financial Management Education Program (40%)

• Promote, recruit, screen, and match or meet with participants for this effort.
• Manage a team of volunteers who provide one-on-one financial management education sessions as assigned using the One-on-One curriculum.
  • Recruit, train, match, supervise, receive reports, and evaluate volunteers.
  • Conduct quarterly Inservices for volunteers.
  • Collect reports and data and generate reports.
• Conduct One-on-One sessions using the developed curriculum
  • Keep records. Generate reports.
• Respond to consumer calls regarding personal financial matters including credit/debt management issues.
  

Implementation of Financial Management Education Workshops/Presentations (50%)

• Schedule, promote, conduct, evaluate, and report workshops.
• Recruit participants for workshops.
• Develop new workshops and program approaches as needed to better serve audiences and local needs.
  

Program Development and Support (10%)

• As a member of the Consumer & Financial Management Program Team, assist with the ongoing outreach and networking, exploration and development of new collaborations and opportunities and delivery venues.
• Support efforts of the Consumer & Financial Management Program Committee.
• Serve as an ambassador for CCE programming in the community.
• Keep records and generate reports.
• Take advantage of professional improvement opportunities related to development of skills and subject matter knowledge needed for this position as agreed upon with supervisor.
• Participate in CCE-TC staff meetings and serve on staff committees as agreed upon with supervisor.

Reporting Relationships:

Program Manager receives direct administrative and functional supervision from and will report directly to the Consumer & Financial Management Education Program Team Coordinator. She/he is expected to implement the agreed upon program effort as a member of the Consumer & Financial Management Education Team. Duties will be performed within general policies and guidelines of Cornell Cooperative Extension of Tompkins County.

CCETC personnel policies designate a twelve-month orientation period with close supervision and support after which s/he is expected to work more independently but will continue to receive the ongoing support and supervision of the Consumer & Financial Management Education Program Team Coordinator.

Education and Experience Required:

• Bachelors degree and three years relevant experience in personal financial management, adult education, education, or related field is required.
• Demonstraced ability to implement a strength-based approach is required. Family Development Credential desirable.
• Previous experience working with limited resource audiences is required.
• Previous experience with successful program implementation and successfully working as a member of a Team is required.
• Previous experience with successful volunteer management or staff supervision is desirable.
• Previous experience in an educational role is highly desirable.
  

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Strong interest in and enthusiasm for area of personal money management and sharing that information with others
• Knowledge and successful implementation of basic personal financial management skills.
• Demonstrated ability to plan, implement, teach, and evaluate adult educational efforts for diverse populations in a variety of settings.
• Demonstrated strong interpersonal and people skills including strength-based approach.
• Desire and ability to be a contributing team member.
• Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
• Ability to work independently within organizational guidelines and work expectations.
• Ability to work with, develop and support volunteers.
• Ability to identify and develop teaching materials and resources to support program activities.
• Strong organizational skills, record keeping abilities, and effective reporting.
• Skills in using electronic technology for communication, development of educational materials, and reporting.
  

Special Requirements:

• Valid drivers license and safe driving record for the past three years or ability to meet travel demands of the position (reimbursement of mileage with use of personal vehicle).
• Willingness to work flexible hours including some nights and weekends.
• Ability to lift or provide instruction for lifting program materials.
