Open Day July 12, 2008
Gouldin Garden
615 Highland Road, Ithaca

Secluded in the heart of Cayuga Heights, this one and a half acre property is distinguished by a diverse collection of mature and unusual trees, including more than a dozen hemlock cultivars, cedars of Lebanon, larch, weeping beech, paperbark, Manchu striped and Japanese maples and a one thousand square foot dwarf conifer bed. A series of garden rooms includes a woodland retreat under a large white oak and a shaded bower near the patio. A 100 foot long mixed perennial border is surprisingly exuberant under the canopy of a sizable black walnut tree.
Directions: From Route 13 take the Cauyga Heights exit. Turn south onto Cayuga Heights Road. Take the second left onto Remington Road. Go one block and turn right onto Highland Road. Proceed .75 mile to #615 on the left just beyond the orange fire hydrant. Or from the intersection of Hanshaw, Upland and Highland Roads beside Cayuga Heights Elementary school, go north on Highland Road. The garden is at the first driveway on the right.
Proceeds from this garden will be shared with the Tompkins County Community Beautification Program.
