Water Logging’s Future
Water Logging’s objectives of raising public awareness of and interest in the current conditions of the marine environment by involving local citizens in the stewardship of our bays through water quality monitoring and tracking of trends in the parameters of our local waters will remain constant into the future.
Meanwhile, we are exploring collaborative efforts with other groups such as the United States Coast Guard Auxiliary who have been monitoring water quality on their own with our training and our equipment to enhance and supplement the data collected on the Greater Huntington-Northport Bay Complex.
The Huntington Lighthouse supports the project by providing a monitoring site which we hope to elaborate on by introducing more of the history of the bays in a joint project with them. Ultimately, we anticipate placing a permanent remote sensing monitor on the light house site which will provide continuous data on the water quality parameters.
We look forward to exploring other collaborations and to involving more and more local citizens in the stewardship of our bays. For it is “by acting locally that we are thinking globaly” about our marine environment. All the marine waters of the world are linked.
