Objectives
are to:

raise awareness of current marine environmental conditions,
increase thinking on important marine issues,
and to support and enhance work by the town, county, state and federal governments,
and through all this to provide a resource of baseline data and cadre of citizen stewards of the bays.

Implementation

Working with CCE marine scientists on water quality monitoring equipment a network of enthusiastic volunteer senior citizens and high school interns, make weekly observations on 17-20 stations throughout the Greater Huntington-Northport Bay Complex from May to November. The program is named Water Logging as in keeping a ship’s log. The observations made are recorded on spreadsheets and made available on this website under the link Findings. Volunteers make up a nucleus of citizens who add to the stewardship of our Huntington-Northport Bay Complex.
