Cornell Cooperative Extension of Suffolk County is part of a uniquely American invention, Cooperative Extension, created in 1914 by the U.S. Department of Agriculture as part of the U.S. land grand university system designed to bring vital, continuing education programs directly to people in their homes and communities.  Begun in 1917, in affiliation with Cornell University, CCE has developed and pursues its own non-profit mission, tailored to meet the needs of the people of the region. The staff and volunteers of Cornell Cooperative Extension of Suffolk County have helped residents county-wide through educational programs for families, schools and local businesses.  CCE’s program areas (Agriculture, Marine, 4-H Youth Development and Family and Consumer Sciences) foster economic development, enhance and protect the environment, and strengthen families and youth.

CCE has served over a million Long Island residents throughout the years and its spectacular success stands as a model to the nation and is made possible through the efforts and generosity of individuals, government and corporations.
