| A
Unique Environmental Camp Experience
For Girls and Boys |
Peconic Dunes Summer Camp provides 2 programs to meet the needs of our campers. Our 4H program includes basketball, kayaking, soccer, softball, swimming, canoeing, archery, campfires and cookouts. The E.C.O. program gives campers a chance to work on a variety of projects including, pond study, marine science, and forest and woodlands. Training in outdoor survival skills as well as fishing and environmental crafts are part of both programs. Peconic Dunes Camp is co-educational, offering sleep away or day camp experiences for children ages 8-15.
Located on the beautiful north fork of Long Island, Peconic Dunes is the perfect setting for learning about our Island's bountiful natural resources while enjoying the great outdoors. The camp is a part of the Suffolk County park system and is operated by Cornell Cooperative Extension of Suffolk County.

Our
Staff
The staff members that are selected to work at Peconic Dunes Camp are hired based on their experience and qualifications working with children. They are dedicated and conscientious. Counselors will serve as instructors and share cabins with campers.
Water front staff members are Red Cross certified and possess credentials as Water Safety instructors and lifeguards. A full time certified health professional is on the premises 24 hours a day to dispense medications and tend to any health concerns. If needed, Eastern Long Island Hospital is 7 miles away and has a doctor on-call 24 hours a day.
Accommodations
There are 3 areas of camp, East, West and Central. Older boys sleep in the East campus, older girls in the West and the youngest boys and girls sleep in single sex cabins in the Central campus. Bunk and cabin assignments are made according to a child's age and when they register. Older campers live in cabins with a camper to counselor ratio of 6:1. Younger campers enjoy a 4:1 ratio. All cabins are rustic and possess electricity for some comforts like a community fan and music speakers.
Meals
Campers are served
3 hearty well-balanced meals daily. Meals are prepared to reflect a variety
of choices and tastes. All food is prepared on site by our professional
cooking staff. Meals are served family style in the dining hall.
