Cornell Marine Moments (CMM) were first conceived as an educational tool to inform viewers about specific topics that the Marine program deals with, such as, Fish, Eelgrass and the Fishing industry to name just a few. Mary Foster Morgan and I worked together to produce these little one minute video clips, Mary wrote the original scripts and I took stock footage that Sandy Dumais, Chris Pickerell, Steve Schott and myself shot. I also must give credit to my friend that I worked with from MTV Richie Martens who worked on the Fishing Industry Marine Moment, Thanks Richie. The Marine Program is constantly looking for other organizations to work or partner with and one such organization is Cablevision. Cablevision started producing their own local Long Island show called Neighborhood Journal and when we found out about it we offered to work with them producing segments regarding the marine world around us, and what came out of that proposition was our Cornell Marine Moments for Neighborhood Journal. Rather than producing a 3-5 min. segment we produced these CMM and had our own little spot on their show. Another important usage of the CMM are that of using them as fillers between the On The Water show segment, this breaks up the show into sections and makes the show flow smoother.
