Family
& Consumer Issues
Family
and consumer science professionals focus on how people
deal with changing roles and developmental tasks as they
move through the stages of the life cycle.
Families
and individuals are uniquely defined by a variety of factors
that influence their ability to adapt to internal dynamics
and external stressors over time. Among the many challenges
people face are
Conflict
management,
Nutrition,
Financial
resource management,
Parent/child
relationships,
Caregiving,
and
Balancing
work & family life.
Within
this context, Cornell Cooperative Extension educators
work to improve peoples’ quality of life by addressing
programs in food, healthy eating, using resources wisely,
energy management, divorce education, quality childcare
and elder care.
Workshops
can involve large audiences or one-to-one mentoring. This
outreach is created by using innovative local and state-wide
partnerships which constantly enhance the ability of Cornell
Cooperative Extension to disseminate research-based information
to the public.
