A Typical Hidden Valley Day

 

7:30 a.m. Wake up
8-8:15 a.m. Flag Pole
8:15-9 a.m. Breakfast
9-9:45 a.m. Clean up
9:45-11 a.m. Activity 1
11:15 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Activity 2
12:30-1:15 p.m. Lunch
1:15-2:15 p.m. Rest Hour
2:30-3:45 p.m. Activity 3 or open swim
4-5:15 p.m. Activity 4 or open swim
5:15-5:30 p.m. Flag Pole
5:30-6:15 p.m. Dinner
6:15-6:30 p.m. Back to cabins to prepare for evening activities
6:30-7:30 p.m. Evening Activity/Bunk Activity/Free Choice
7:45-8:30 p.m. All camp activity
9:30 p.m. Lights Out

 
Campers will choose their activities when they arrive at camp. Some of the traditional favorites will be offered, along with new selections! Below are the descriptions for some of the typical programs:

Archery:  One of our favorite activities is receiving a face lift with new equipment this summer. Campers will learn proper shooting technique and safety. Bows are provided for campers.

Arts and Crafts:  If you enjoy art projects, you will love this activity. Projects may include tie-dye, ceramics, boondoggle, batik, sponge painting, and other creative arts. Age appropriate activities are taught by our Arts and Crafts Staff.

Athletics:  Traditional sports are offered under the guidance of our qualified Athletic staff. Camp favorites such as speedball, ultimate Frisbee, volleyball, football, softball, kickball, soccer, and basketball are offered to challenge athletes of all levels.

Campfire Cooking:  Learn to cook over am open fire! Build a camp fire and create delicious snacks and meals that will impress your bunkmates.

Canoeing:  Located at Upper Glen Lake, campers will learn and improve proper paddling techniques, while enjoying the views of Watkins Glen State Park. This activity is a DOUBLE SESSION or 2 activity choices.

Drama:  Our Drama staff will help each camper find the "actor/actress" hidden inside. All campers will receive instruction in various aspects of the dramatic arts.

Music and Dance:  Campers will learn various beginning dance moves and have the opportunity to perform in front of the whole camp at the end of the week. In addition campers will learn and sing camp songs to be performed at meals and campfires.

Outdoor Adventures:  Learn basic skills in outdoor camping and living. Each day is different: shelter building, hiking, fishing, or survival skills.
                                                                                                              
Photography:  Do you like to take pictures of your friends or places you have explored? Then you should sign up for this activity. You will learn methods of traditional and trick photography to improve your photography skills.

Science Explorations:  Campers interested in increasing their knowledge of science will enjoy this activity. Projects may include building rockets, making rock candy, creating slime, and testing other experimental phenomena.

Swimming Lessons:  Our in-ground pool provides a safe and attractive setting for American Red Cross instruction from certified lifeguards. From beginners to advanced swimmers, campers can learn or improve their swimming skills.
