To complete the recycling circle, and have an important effect on resource conservation, we need to purchase items made with recycled content – post consumer recycled content is best.

Recycled content materials have been diverted from landfills – it can be pre-consumer (largely by-products and waste from manufacturing) or post-consumer (products that computers are finished using, e.g., paper, aluminum cans, glass). 

Many manufacturers post the percentage of recycled content used in packaging or items right on the package.  Be sure to check for it.  Paper, plastics, and aluminum can all be found made of post-consumer recycled content.
