Cornell Cooperative Extension, Schenectady County (CCE,SC) held its 2009 Open House at the Horticulture Education Center in Central Park on May 6th. Staff and volunteers worked together to make this event the most successful that CCESC has ever seen. The weather was perfect for up to 350 Schenectady County residents who were treated to greenhouses full of flowering plants that will soon be available for planting in public spaces throughout Schenectady County. Representatives from Cornell Cooperative Extension, Schenectady County’s varied programs treated attendees to samples and information, 4-H’ers offered activities for youth, and representatives from the Schenectady County Sheriff’s Departments’ Operation Safe Child’s program provided photo IDs and fingerprinting services as well as a chance for attendees to visit with dogs from their K-9 unit. “Everything and everyone were wonderful. The aromas were breath-taking,” enthused one participant.
As you can see from the pictures below, many people enjoyed the activities and programs that the Open House had to offer. CCE,SC enjoys being part of the community and providing our valuable programs and services to community members. |
