The Child & Families Opportunities Project (COPS) is funded by the Schenectady County Department of Social Services. The program provides parent education and engages children in youth development activities. Upon referral from a DSS caseworker, an Extension Community Educator will work with each family/child to develop an individual youth development strategy, based on the needs of the child as well as the resources and availability of the family. COPS explores general principles of youth development and simple ways for families to make positive, lasting changes in their child’s lives.
Educators work with families to:
· Promote positive youth development
· Promote a sense of safety
· Promote healthy living and wellness
· Connect families to youth development programs in Schenectady County and the Capital District.
