CCE,SC offers a Backyard Gardening Series! Topics include: From Planning to Planting, Composting, Vegetable and Herb Gardens, Weed Identification, Insect Identification, Reaping the Harvest, Small Fruits, Putting Your Beds to Rest. Classes will be held at the Horticulture Education Center, 180 Chaires Lane, Central Park, Schenectady. The fee is: $10.00 per class.
Join 4-H’ers at This Year’s Altamont Fair August 11 – 16, 2009
There is something for everyone - the 4-H building is filled with creative artwork, club displays, banners, home-grown vegetables and baked items or take your turn trying out the Laser Shoot. You will also enjoy seeing 4-H project animals, housed throughout the animal buildings or at one of the animal shows occurring throughout the week. You won’t want to miss the 4-H Strawberry Shortcake booth, run by Schenectady County 4-H’ers and 4-H volunteers and offering a wide variety of food and drinks in addition to their famous Strawberry Shortcake. Enjoy!
Healthy Eating for Life events at the farmer's market.
Nutrition educators from CCE, SC's Healthy Eating for Life programs will be facilitating a variety of special events at the farmer's markets on Jay Street and State Street in Schenectady throughout the summer. Events will include nutrition education, healthy recipies, taste testing and more - rain or shine. Announcing: Summer Fun Days – Free to all Families residing in Schenectady County
Join CCE, SC for fun-filled mornings that include arts & crafts, story time and snack. Each Summer Fun Day is based on a child-centered theme including: Beachside Fun, Adventures to Outer Space, Fun with Animals, Land of the Dinosaurs, and Back to School. Activities will be held at 106 Erie Blvd., Schenectady.

CCE, SC’s Annual Open House was held at the Schenectady County Horticulture Education Center/Greenhouse Central Park, 180 Ptl. Arthur Chaires Lane (formerly Courtside Lane) Schenectady, NY 12309
It was a fun-filled event with tours, a tomato plant give-a-way, children’s activities, native plants and herbs sale, and much more!
Free photo ID and fingerprinting of children was available by the Schenectady County Sheriff’s Department’s “Operation Safe Child.”
