Master
Gardener Volunteers help Putnam County residents with their gardening
problems.
Master Gardener
Volunteers are presently active in the community delivering presentations
to special interest groups and clubs. They also educate the public
by maintaining two demonstration gardens at the Cornell Cooperative
Extension office. These gardens are presently undergoing an overhaul.
The purpose of the gardens is to show that many drought resistant
plants can grow and thrive in Putnam County, as well as various
methods of home composting to utilize yard and kitchen waste,
reducing the waste stream.

Cornell
Cooperative Extension and several Master Gardeners have plots
at the Community Garden and are happy to answer questions about
what's growing, what insects or diseases are afflicting the gardens
and how to fix problems. There are fact sheets and information
available at the Cooperative Extension plot. This is a great hands-on
way to learn more about your garden.
