Family & Consumer Sciences at Cornell Cooperative Extension:Who Are We ? The College of Human Ecology at Cornell University responds to human needs in New York State and beyond by improving nutrition and health, advancing environmental design and technology, promoting human development, and securing economic and social well-being for individuals, families and communities through integrated programs of research, outreach and teaching. Family & Consumer Sciences staff in Orange County partner with the College of Human Ecology to make this happen.
What Do We Do? The Family & Consumer Sciences Program offers educational opportunities and resources designed to help empower individuals and families to improve the quality of their lives, become competent consumers and build better communities. Prevention-focused programs will address the issues of human relationships and dependent care, housing and financial management, and nutrition and health.
Our Staff Can Help You Through:

• agency contracts for special initiatives
• lending library (audio-visual and written resources)
• resource room/consumer helpline, (hours) 8:30 a.m. – 4: p.m., Monday – Friday
• newsletter series: Living Well and Smart Bites
• public service announcements
For all program requests, a minimum of 15 participants, one months notice and confirmation agreement are required. There may be a nominal charge to cover program materials and associated expenses.
