Enjoy Fresh Foods at the Canandaigua Farmers' Market
Visitors to the Canandaigua Farmers Market can learn how to plan their summer meals around locally grown fresh vegetables and fruits this summer. Barb McGuffie, Cornell Cooperative Extension Nutrition Educator, will again be providing nutrition and foods information at the market throughout the summer. A visit to the Farmers’ Market will be an exploration into some new tastes and textures, brought to you by the county’s farmers.
Ms. McGuffie will be preparing delicious and nutritious foods using a variety of products from the market for visitors to sample. In addition, she will have information and handouts on the nutritional and health benefits of this region’s abundant food crops. Ms. McGuffie is a graduate of Cornell University, with nine years of experience providing nutrition education to local residents as part of the Eat Smart New York Program. Basic food preparation skills, nutrition, food safety, menu planning, and stretching food dollars are topics covered in her programs.
The Canandaigua Farmers’ Market is open on Saturdays from June 7 through the last Saturday in October from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. The market is located between Mill and Beeman Streets in Canandaigua. The market is sponsored by the City of Canandaigua. For more information call the Cornell Cooperative Extension of Ontario County at (585) 394-3977 x 427 or x 402.
