Onondaga County Farmland Protection Effort

CCE Onondaga County is involved in the Onondaga County Farmland Protection Effort.
Staff serves on the Onondaga County Agriculture and Farmland Protection Board. CCE also contracts with the Syracuse-Onondaga County Planning Agency for agricultural district review and assists property owners when applying for Farmland Protection Implementation Grants offered by the NYS Department of Agriculture and Markets. Over 190,000 acres of land (30%) within the county is enrolled in certified agricultural districts. To date approximately 5,800 acres of land has been or is under contract to be protected for farm use.

Agricultural District No. 4 Under Review
Agricultural District No. 4 is currently under review by the Onondaga County Legislature. Farm operators are surveyed. Property owners have until April 5, 2008 to request that property be added or deleted from the agricultural district. Agricultural District #4 is located in the Towns of
Dewitt,
Fabius,
Pompey and east of Route 81 in the Towns of
