4-H Government Intern Program for High School Students
This program is an opportunity available to high school juniors and seniors attending schools in Oneida County. Students that are selected for the program should have an interest in government, be self-motivated, and have the ability to meet the required time commitment. Interns must also be able to carry the full school load in addition to the program. Students are matched with local government officials to discover first-hand how government works. Guest speakers, seminars, legislative meetings, committee meetings, public hearings, group projects, and possible field trips during either the fall or spring semester of the school year provide insight into the legislative process. Students successfully completing the government intern program receive a certificate of completion and may get academic credit as part of their “Participation in Government” course. High school students or anyone interested in the government intern program should contact Caroline Williams at jcw28@cornell.edu or 315-736-3394 x133.
