The RETIRED & SENIOR VOLUNTEER PROGRAM
OF MADISON COUNTY
is part of the Corporation for National and Community Service a
division of the National Senior Service Corps working in conjunction
with the national Freedom Corps, President Bush's new initiative
to help with homeland security.
RSVP utilizes the vast talents of seniors, aged 55 and older, willing
to share their experiences, abilities and skills in responding to
a wide variety of needs prioritized by local communities. RSVP enables
older persons to contribute to their communities through volunteer
service, impacts the lives of volunteers and persons served, and
provides communities with necessary and valuable services. RSVP
recruits and assigns volunteers to serve in community-based agencies
that train and supervise the volunteers.
RSVP provides opportunities to serve at area hospitals, nursing
homes, volunteer ambulance corps and fire departments, county public
health department, libraries, schools, historical societies, etc.,
and assist community projects for homeland security.
