Is Urban Sprawl catching up with you? Thinking of relocating and still want to farm?

Then come to Lewis County in the heart of Upstate New York. We are pro-agriculture.

 

The regional Come Farm With Us program is a marketing initiative involving Lewis, Essex, Franklin, Madison, Jefferson, Oneida, Oswego and St. Lawrence Counties. Established approximately six years ago, the effort concentrates on promoting the continued success of agriculture in these areas that provide strong agribusiness infrastructure, a quality rural lifestyle, competitive crop yields, and affordable land prices.

Representatives from each of these Counties serve on this committee. Lewis County representatives include Michele Ledoux, Frans Vokey, and Peggy Murray. Arlene Hall serves as the coordinator of this regional program.

During 2005, the regional Come Farm With Us program has planned its most aggressive advertising schedule to date. Monthly ads are appearing in several magazines and newspapers including American Agriculturalist, Northeast Dairy Business, Country Folks and Ontario Dairy Farmer.

The regional Come Farm With Us program has also attended the following Farm Trade Shows with our booth: the Keystone Farm Show in York, Pennsylvania; the New York Farm Show in Syracuse, New York; the Farm Science Review in London, Ohio; and the World Dairy Expo in Madison, Wisconsin. This year we will attend New England Dairy and Beef Expo, in Essex Junction, Vermont.

All of the above assists in promoting our area. We do need your help, however. While moving a farm is a big transition for a family to make, and often takes a lot of time to consider all of the ramifications, many people that call us have visited this area, like it, and are READY TO BUY! IF your farm is for sale, or if you are even thinking about selling in the next 5 years, consider letting us know. We will add your name to a list to share with prospective buyers. In the meantime, we will list inquiries monthly in the Ag Digest. Other counties involved with this program are also listing inquiries in their respective ag publications.
