What is 4-H?

A group of at least 5 youth who meet regularly to:

- Work on projects

- Perform community services

- Participate in business meetings

- Have fun with members in other 4-H clubs

 

How old do you have to be to join a 4-H club in Lewis County?

4-H in Lewis County is for youth between the ages of 5 and 19. Youth must have entered kindergarten. Kindergarten through 2nd grade are Cloverbuds.

 

Who Provides the Leadership for a 4-H club?

It is shared among member’s parents. Each club has an organizational leader. Other parents are asked to contribute to:

- Teach a project or help with an activity

- Help with transportation/ refreshments

- Help with fund raising

- Chaperone

 

How do 4-H leaders know what to do?

The County 4-H staff provides guidance and resources.

 

How much does it cost to join 4-H?

All members are encouraged to particiapte in the annual countywide fund raiser/cookie sale. If they elect not to participate in the Fund Raiser, a yearly fee will be assessed as follows: $25.00 per club and $5.00 per independent member.

 

When and where do 4-H clubs meet.

Each club sets it’s own meeting time and place.

 

What is a 4-H project?

A “project” is a series of learning experiences through which members learn information, develop skills and, often make something.
