The 4-H Animal Science program offers wonderful opportunities for youth regardless of the specie a young person can learn the responsibility for the care and training of an animal. This care includes healthy feeding, grooming and management. Participation in activities and events such as judging, showmanship, knowledge bowl, and skill-a-thons creates the setting for learning life skills. Record keeping is also a key component of an animal science project.

Safety is the number one priority in implementing animal science programs in Lewis County 4-H and each of the specie programs comes with its own set of guidelines and procedures. Lewis County 4-H boasts strong programs in Dairy, Horse, Rabbits, Poultry, Cavy, and Dog.
