Educational Programs and Resources
Agriculture
Our Adirondack Harvest program links local farmers with local and regional markets to enhance revenues and stengthen the county's agricultural economy. This includes marketing, new product development, and educational programs.
Programs in Crop Production, Pesticide Applicator Training, Farm Business Management, and PRO-Dairy programs offer production and profitability skills to farmers, while helping them to protect the environment at the same time.
CCE and the Agriculture and Farmland Protection Board coordinate the Agricultural District program and Conservation Easement purchase program. We participate in the NE Regional Fruit Program for commercial apples, small fruit and cold season grape development.
We have 3 experiment stations in Essex County:Uihlein Maple Station, Uihlein Potato Research Station, and Willsboro Research Station for crop management.
Natural Resources and Community Development

Assist Lake and River Associations to implement projects supported by the community such as Lake Champlain Basin Program, Lincoln Pond Assoc., Goodnow Flow Assoc., Boquet River Assoc. and Au Sable River Assoc., etc.
Provide assistance for fledgling not-for-profit groups to organize and implement community development such as Altai Assistance Project.
Provide invasive animal and weed control recommendations as well as working with organizations to implement community control programs.
Horticulture

We have 35 + trained and active Master Gardeners, a Consumer Horticulture Hot-Line web site, and a variety of educational programs including participation with farmers' markets.
We coordinate the Clinton/Essex maple educational program.
Commercial horticulture is implemented through a contract with Clinton County. This includes: research and educational programs on turf care and landscape practices, non-toxic and integrated pest management (IPM) strategies.

Nutrition
Food Stamp Nutrition Education Program provides funding for target audiences to receive programs on improving food safety, healthy food choices, and food resource management and food security.
Office of the Aging nutrition education at the senior nutrition sites.
An agreement with Elizabethtown Community Hospital funds nutrition services for newly diagnosed clients with nutrition related diseases such as diabetes, heart disease, weight management, and food allergies to learn how to manage their diet and disease.
Diabetes Support Group in Essex County.
Public Health MOMS nutritional assessment and counselling.
ACAP Head Start nutrition programs.
Energy Education & Resources
NYSERDA and NY Energy Smart programs on energy conservation and energy resource management. Check out the energy smart rebates for residents, contractors and suppliers who participate in the Energy Smart program. Check our website for upcoming community events.
