Susquehanna Headwaters Trail
The mission of the Headwaters River Trail Partnership( HRTP) is to promote
environmentally responsible recreation on the Susquehanna River, its tributaries
and islands in New York, and to encourage resource awareness, stewardship
and conservation by river users. HRTP will do this in partnership with
private individuals,environmental, recreational ,cultural and historic
organizations,and government agencies at local,county, state and federal
levels. The HRTP shall work with other organizations toward the goal of
a continuous river trail system in the Susquehanna Headwaters Catchment
Basin in NYS. The HRTP shall cooperate with and lead efforts to encourage
and facilitate sustainable use of The Headwaters River Trail, including
safe operation of watercraft and low impact camping practices. T! he HRTP
shall also promote an appreciation of river history, including the the
natural and built environments, and economic issues impacting the river
and its watershed.
