River Council

The River Council is building on the community's vision for our river with the help of three Department of State grants. Learn what they are doing, and help realize the vision.


Clean River Banks

A community group that organizes Chemung River public clean up projects and awareness.

River Watch

A group of community volunteers focused on prevention of illegal river dumping and promoting river stewardship. All are welcome to join the group. Contact Dave Grier (733-6293) or Linda Couchon (734-4453) for more information.

River Fest

An annual river paddle and festival event coordinated by community groups and individuals. Keep tuned for 2008!


Chemung Basin River Trail Partnership (CBRTP)

A partnership formed in 1999 by Cornell Cooperative Extension of Chemung County and Southern Tier Central Regional Planning to develop a river trail system in the Chemung valley and to promote the protection of its watershed. The Partnership is a voluntary organization of agencies and residents working together to make the river system accessible to all. The CBRTP web site has maps of the Chemung River, access site information and numerous links to resources and information.

The River Muse newsletter
