What Are The Environmental Issues In Your Town/Village?

In the past, we have responded to your calls by putting together a series of workshops on junk and unregistered vehicles. Contact us and let us know what other environmentally-related issues you need help on in your town/village, so we can add it to our present and future programming!

Waste Motor Oil Accepted at Chemung County Sewer District No. 1

(Aug 2006) The County has a new location at which County residents may dispose of used motor oil.

With the assistance of funds from Chemung Landfill, LLC, a waste oil tank has been set up at the Lake Street Wastewater Treatment Plant, at 1700 Lake Street. This facility is located immediately north of the Solid Waste Transfer Station. The facilities share a driveway off of Lake Street, with Solid Waste bearing off to the right, and the Treatment Plant being off to the left.

County residents can bring their waste motor oil to the facility between the hours of 7AM and 3PM, Monday through Saturday. The waste oil will be accepted free of charge.

In order for the Lake Street Treatment Plant staff to assist residents with the disposal of the oil, it is suggested that an appointment be made in advance by calling 733-1837.
