4-H Award Trips
4-H Award Trips are made possible throught funded provided by the 4-H Snack Bar Fund Raiser at County Fair, the 4-H Cookie Sale Fund Raiser during National 4-H Week, and through a grant from the Sheldon Foundation. Applicants should have participated in both the snack bar and/or cookie sale fundraising efforts in order to be considered for selection.
Junior Award Trips
(ages 8 to 13)
2006 Junior Award Trip Application
These are one day field trips. The application includes a short, one-page form and the applicant must write a short essay entitled "How 4-H Has changed my Life". The completed application must be received in the 4-H Office by 12:00 Noon., Friday, September 29, 2006.

(ages 13 and older)
2007 Teen Award Trip Application
Teen award trips are awarded to youth based on their 4-H accomplishments, contributions to the 4-H Cookie Sale and 4-H Snack Bar fundraisers, and completion of the 4-H Award Trip Process. The Award Trip Application includes writing a cover letter, 4-H Resume, completing a brief application and participating in a 4-H interview. The completed packet must be received in the 4-H Office by 12:00 Noon, Friday, September 29, 2006. Teen Award Trip Interviews will be held on Monday, October 9 and Wednesday, October 11. You MUST call 664-9502 x214 to schedule your interview.
The following award trips are available to 4-H Teens:
4-H Capital Days in Albany (early March), 3 days, ages 14 & older: Delegates will have the opportunity to visit the State Capital and various agencies, learn about state government, explore career opportunities in government, and meet their elected officials.
New York Farm Bureauâ¿¿s Governmental Awareness Institute, Albany, NY (early April), 2 days, High School Juniors: This event is geared towards High School Juniors with a demonstrated interest in government. Participants will learn about government as it relates to agriculture and meet their elected officials. An agricultural/rural background is preferred but not required.
New York City Career Exploration Trip (usually during spring break), 4 days, ages 16 & older: Opportunity to explore a wide array of career opportunities. In NYC, teens will visit famous historical and cultural landmarks/attractions. Due to budget restraints, this trip will only be offered every other year. It is scheduled to occur in 2008 and 2010.
Cornell Career Explorations, Cornell University (end of June), 3 days, (ages 13 and up): The purpose of this program is to provide youth with the exposure to academic fields and career exploration, to develop leadership skills, to provide hands-on experience in a college setting and to introduce you to Cornell University.
Citizenship Washington Focus, Washington D. C. (mid-July), 1 week, ages 15-19: This program, offered through the National 4-H Center, provides hands-on learning opportunities in citizenship and leadership. Participants meet up with 30+ delegates from across New York State to travel to our nation's capital. Once in D.C., participants would meet 4-Her's from all over the United States. Activities include meeting Representatives, visiting memorials, seeing Mount Vernon, a dinner theatre and much more. Due to budget restraints, this trip will only be offered every other year. It is scheduled to occur in 2007 and 2009.
Agri-Business Career Conference in Cobleskill, NY, (mid October) 2 days, ages 14 and older: Participants become more aware of opportunities with agriculture and academic requirements for professional positions available in agri-business. This trip features mini-tours to farms and operations in the Cobleskill area as well as seminars, guest speakers and guided tours of the SUNY Cobleskill agriculture facilities.
4-H Foods Award Trip, Chautauqua County, (Autumn), 1 day, ages 13 and older: Applicants must have completed a 4-H Foods Projects. Participants on this one-day trip get to tour various Food related businesses in Chautauqua County. The high-light of the day is a very nice dinner at a restaurant.
