Wyoming County Fair 2008

August 9-16, 2008

      "Building Strong Foundations For Future Generations"

The Wyoming County Fair in Pike New York is possibly the only county fair with NO ADMISSION Charge!

Parking stickers for fair will be on sale at the 4-H office for 4-H Leaders for $10. (LIMIT ONE PER LEADER!)

Anyone may purchase a sticker at a cost of $20 per sticker. These are on sale at all banks in Wyoming County. However, not at the special rate for leaders. Daily parking at the fair is $5.00 per day.

The 2008 Wyoming County Fair Books are now available.
(4-H members in a club will be receiving their fair book from their 4-H leader and lone members will have one mailed to them.)

  • Double Entry Tags (pdf)
    Exhibit tags must be securely attached to each item you wish to be judged at the Wyoming County Fair. Each item must be recorded on the voucher sheet (Department H - Youth). All information must be filled in completely to receive premiums. See example on right on how to complete an entry tag.
    REMINDER: No school projects or camp crafts shall be exhibited or judged in the Youth Building (Depart H, Section 12, 13, 16, and 18)

  • Statement Card For Classes 281-312 (pdf)
    Please note that all youth exhibiting entries in classes 281-312 (Area: Art Objects), entries must be accompanied by a statement card which provides information on the construction of the project. Please find a copy of the statement card below. Please note that all entries must include information regarding how the project was made including “skills used, techniques and/or processes used, and a statement reflecting what part of the project or materials were made by the exhibitor and/or purchased”. You may print out this sheet with 4 copies of the statement card or use a 3 x 5 card to complete this required information for the entries. Sheets, containing 4 copies of the statement card, will also be available for pick-up at the 4-H office in Warsaw. Any questions, please call the 4-H Office at 786-2251.

  • Highlight a custom (song, dance, game, etc.) to share!

4-H "Shake Off" Contest -
(Pre-registration and one blender per team required - space is limited)

4-H'ers will work together as teams, using a variety of provided ingredients, to create a nutritious, delicious, visually appealing milkshake!

This event is open to all 4-H'ers. Prizes for the 4-H'ers who 'create' the best tasting shake! To sign up as an individual or as a team, complete this form.

3:00 p.m. Presentation on "How to Make a Homemade Stencil" by Hailee Milligan.
5:30 p.m. International Foods Presentation on Poland by the Castile Country Kids 4-H Club. Come and enjoy!

Create-A-Cake (Cake Decorating) Contest
(pre-registration required by Wednesday, Aug. 6th)
Please arrive by 5:45 p.m.

This contest is open to all 4-H’ers enrolled in any program area – you do not have to be enrolled in homemaking projects to participate.

This is a team contest, with one team member being a 4-H’er and the other being a parent, grandparent, or older brother or sister. We will provide various decorations. Participants will need to bring a single layer frosted 8” or 9” square or round cake, and their imaginations!! The cake should be placed on a square of durable cardboard covered with foil or freezer paper.

The contestants will have 30 minutes to creatively decorate their cake. The most creative cake will be awarded a great prize.

Call the 4-H office to sign up at 786-2251 by Wednesday, August 6th.
This contest should be a lot of fun for all!!

4-H Jeopardy Quiz Bowl -
4-H'ers answer questions focusing on animal science (dairy, beef, sheep, swine, etc.), plant science, family & consumer science (foods and nutrition, clothing and textiles, consumer education), citizenship (community service, leadership development, communications & expressive arts), and general 4-H trivia. Fun and prizes for all participants!

  • Public presentations or demonstrations on topics related to dairy or dairy foods
1:30 p.m. Join the Wyoming County Dairy Princess, Lauren Osborn, for her presentation on milk and dairy products! Special prizes for all who attend!
1:45 p.m. Dairy Activities - 'Mix It With Milk 'n JelloÒ', make your own butter, sample 'purple cow milk punch', pick your favorite 'Dairy Dip', make a milk explosion, and other dairy treats! Toss the "cheese football" through the cow and other activities!
2:30 p.m. Free ice cream served to 4-H'ers, leaders and their families!
