Dairy farmers are experts when it comes to production. Their skill and
knowledge has helped make Wyoming County the state's top dairy region.
But profitability can be a challenge, where price per hundredweight
is notoriously shaky. / December 2007

Wyoming County can boast of the fact that it ranks first in the Empire
State in dairy production. The average herd size of our dairy operations
is ever increasing. This larger herd size brings with it the demand
for a skilled and dedicated work force. To keep the existing work
force abreast of the ever changing technologies while simultaneously
attracting an emerging local work force was identified as a barrier
to the future success of our dairy operations in the county.

The WISH (Wyoming Initiative for School Health) is well on its way to
reaching many Wyoming County school-aged children to teach them the
importance of eating healthy and exercising. /

- Art In The Garden Celebration
The Master Gardeners at Cornell Cooperative Extension, Wyoming County,
are sponsoring Art in the Garden, a Home Grown garden celebration, on
Saturday, May 12th from 9:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. at the Legion Hall
in the Warsaw Village Park. The event is free and open to the public.

For every ticket purchased for Paramount Pictures and Walden Media's
production of Charlotte's Web through www.fourhcouncil.edu,
Hollywood Movie Money will make a $1 donation to 4-H to help support
your state's 4-H program. / December 2006
- Emergency Forage Exchange
Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton joined Cornell Cooperative Extension
and the New York Farm Bureau Foundation for Agricultural Education,
Inc. in launching an Emergency Forage Exchange and a Feed and Forage
Transportation Fund to provide feed and cash assistance for farmers
in New York State who have been severely impacted by the recent flooding.
The website will be active through December 2006 at which point continuation
will be reconsidered based on need. / July 2006
- It's Farmers' Market Time
June is the month most local farmers markets come alive with fresh
produce. The Farmers Market Nutrition Program is a federally funded
program that provides coupon books to WIC families to use at their local
farmers market or farm stand. The coupons can be used to buy locally
grown fresh fruits and vegetables. / June 2006
