Scheduled CCE/EmPower NY Workshops

These Workshops are conducted by Cornell Cooperative Extension as part of the EmPower New York Program with funding from NYSERDA.

These 2 hour workshops are free. Class size is limited so pre-registration is required.

*Making Ends Meet (MEM)
This workshop provides an overview of the process for developing and using a household spending plan. We also explore ways to maximize resources and reduce energy use. Participants will receive a free money management kit.

**Save Energy, Save Dollars((Energy)
Learn about low-cost and no-cost Strategies easily impelemented by homeowners or renters to save energy and reduce energy bills. Also learn about programs that can help you afford energy-efficiency improvements with subsidies, low-interest loans, or free services to qualifying households. Participants will receive a free energy kit, including weatherstripping, shrink window insulation, outlet and light switch gaskets, and more.

***Exploring Credit/Debt Management Issues (Credit)

Information on selecting and using credit wisely are shared at this workshop. Also strategies for paying down debt, obtaining and reviewing a credit report, and understanding a credit score are presented. Participants receive free credit management tools.

Scheduled one hour Home Energy Clinics
Conducted by NYSERDA, Retail Partners, or Energy $mart Community Coordinators.

These one-hour workshops will teach basic cost-cutting winterization tips that cover effective insulation and duct sealing techniques, how to give your home heating equipment a check-up, and the importance of using products that will save you energy and won't break the bank.
