Agricultural Environmental Management Worksheets
The Agricultural Environmental Management (AEM) worksheets were developed as a tool to help growers document environmental stewardship practices they are currently implementing while identifying and prioritizing areas of potential environmental concern. To date, the NY State AEM Program has developed 19 core worksheets aimed at a variety of farm management practices, ranging from soil management to livestock odor management. From these, the Stewardship Program has chosen to focus on the agricultural practices that have the greatest impact on Long Island’s ground and surface waters: nutrient and pest management.
We are currently developing commodity specific worksheets for each of the major commodity groups on Long Island. If AEM worksheets are not yet available for your commodity, the general worksheets can be used to assess your nutrient and pest management practices. We recommend completing the worksheets with an Agricultural Stewardship Technician to receive the additional educational component. If you are interested in conducting an assessment of your farm, please contact us. All information gathered from the worksheets remains confidential. In addition, growers who complete the worksheets are eligible to receive one NYS DEC pesticide recertification credit.
