Cornell Cooperative Extension’s Family
and
Consumer Education Program provides practical education and information to Ontario County residents on budgeting, long term care insurance, credit/debt management, Food Safety, Home Food Preservation, and Parenting Education, as well as Child Development and Aging.
We offer classes and answer consumer requests. We also have fact sheets and bulletins on various topics. We offer Family Budgeting Education and Parenting Skills Workshop Series. Finally, we provide financial and energy conservation education.
Food Preservation and Canning
Do you have questions on food preservation, canning, cooking wild game or food storage? We will try to answer in a timely manner, however it may take up to 24 hours for questions we have to research.
Enjoy Fresh Foods at the Farmers' Market
Visitors to the Canandaigua Farmers Market can learn how to plan their summer meals around locally grown fresh vegetables and fruits this summer. Barb McGuffie, Cornell Cooperative Extension Nutrition Educator, will again be providing nutrition and foods information at the market throughout the summer. A visit to the Farmers’ Market will be an exploration into some new tastes and textures, brought to you by the county’s farmers.
The Canandaigua Farmers’ Market is open on Saturdays from June 7 through the last Saturday in October from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. The market is located between Mill and Beeman Streets in Canandaigua.
