Cornell Cooperative Extension of Columbia County publishes newsletters and fact sheets filled with helpful information, tips and updates. In addition to those listed here, there are numerous other publications available from the Cornell Cooperative Extension Publications Catalog, or from our local office.
- Persons who subscribe to one or more newsletters will receive The NEWS . This monthly magazine features timely articles written by Extension Educators and Area Specialists in their area of expertise. Also included is the popular Subscriber's Exchange, monthly DHI records, Calendar of Events, and Precipitation and Frost Record for Columbia County. This periodical is also availabe via Email. The files are sent in portable document file (PDF) format. To read these files, you need Adobe Acrobat reader or a similar program. - The Columbia Consumer contains timely and factual articles on horticulture and general gardening; human development and parenting; family life; food preparation and safety; nutrition; home environment; financial management, and consumer tips. Also included is the monthly Horticultural Almanac with its timely tips for flowers, vegetables, trees and shrubs, fruit, houseplants, herbs, and lawns prepared specifically for Columbia County gardeners by our Master Gardener volunteers. You will also receive appropriate program and meeting notices.
- 4-H Youth Connection newsletter contains articles and reports on 4-H club and youth development programs and activities in Columbia County. It also includes school news and programs for youth and youth volunteers not enrolled in the 4-H club program.
- Part - Time Farmer newsletter is designed for individuals interested or engaged in a small-scale farming activity.
Newsletters for Commercial Agriculture
- Hudson Valley Tree Fruit Newsletter features timely articles and reports on tree fruit culture, pest management, and marketing designed for the commercial tree fruit producer. Back issues of the newsletter may be viewed at the Hudson Valley Regional Fruit Program website. Also appropriate meeting and program notices and the Pest Management Guidelines for Commercial Tree Fruit Production.
- Hudson Valley Small Fruit Newsletter contains timely articles on the production and marketing of small fruit including strawberries, bush and bramble berries. Also appropriate meeting and program notices and the Pest Management Guidelines for Small Fruit Crops.
- Hudson Valley Grape Newsletter contains timely articles on the production and marketing of grapes. Also appropriate meeting and program notices and the New York-Pennsylvania Pest Management Guidelines for Grapes.
- Columbia County Livestock Digest provides information on a variety of livestock species.
- Capital District Vegetable Newsletter provides timely information regarding the commercial production and marketing of vegetables. Also appropriate meeting and program notices and the Pest Management Guidelines for Commercial Vegetable and Potato Production.
- Hudson Valley Agriculture Newsletter contains timely information about dairy cattle management, farm business management and field crops. In addition, you will receive the monthly CROP & SOIL NEWS covering field crops topics. Also appropriate program and meeting notices, pest alerts and the Pest Management Guidelines for Integrated Field Crop Management. Field Crops Information only also available.
